  32. WHAT IT DOES
  33. ============

  35. DragText v1.2 gives Warp drag-and-drop text.
  36.  
  37.  - Drag text between windows or to the shredder.

  40.  - Drop a URL on a folder to create a WebExplorer
  41.    Url object or drop it directly on WebEx

  45. DragText works with many popular apps, including the Internet Access
  46. Kit, System Editor and EPM.  DragText's Basic features are yours free
  47. for unlimited use.  Its Extended features are yours to try for 6 weeks.
  48. Continued use costs only $15(US) by mail and $18 through BMT Micro.
  49. If not registered, the Extended features will cease working after your
  50. free trial period expires.

  55. INSTALLATION
  56. ============
  57.  
  58. Run DTSetup to install DragText v1.2 and enable your 6-week free
  59. trial of DragText's Extended features.  It will copy files, create
  60. objects, and advise you of any restrictions imposed by your system.
  61. After a successful installation, you can load DragText v1.2 and use
  62. it immediately.  DTSetup can be used later to uninstall DragText.

  69. USING DRAGTEXT
  70. ==============
  71.  
  72. Run DragText at startup to load it.  It will remain in memory until
  73. you reboot, but it will NOT appear in any task or window list.
  74.  
  75. Run DragText again to open its Options Notebook whenever you need to:
  76.  - set its options and defaults
  77.  - disable it for a specific program
  78.  - review runtime statistics and error messages
  79.  - read the online Help
  80. DragText's help window has 'Forward' and 'Back' buttons to make
  81. browsing it easier.

  83. DragText supports 6 types of text window found in most PM apps:
  84.  
  85.     1)Single-line Entryfields   3)List boxes    5)Spin buttons          
  86.     2)Multi-line Entryfields    4)Combo boxes   6)Static text

  88. It uses 6 icons and 3 mouse pointers that change as you drag text
  89. and files to identify what will happen if you drop at that point.

  91. -Press and hold CTRL to select a copy operation (this is the default);
  92. -press and hold SHIFT to select a move operation;
  93. -press and hold ALT to insert a file or folder's contents into a
  94.  multi-line entryfield;
  95. -press and release INSERT to toggle between insert and replace mode
  96.  in single-line entryfields only.
  97. Most defaults can be changed from the Options Notebook.

  100. Dragging Text
  101. -------------
  102. Highlight the text, then begin dragging from anywhere within the
  103. window.  You do not have to point at the selection nor does it have
  104. to be visible (e.g. in an MLE, you can scroll it out of view).
  105.  
  106. Drag text between windows:
  107.  - drag it to the target window
  108.  - position it using the I-beam mouse pointer (not the icon)
  109.  - drop it
  110.  
  111. Create a DragText file or WebExplorer_Url object:
  112.  - drag it to the Desktop or any folder
  113.  - drop it
  114. A file's title will be based on the text, minus punctuation.
  115. A Url objects's title comes from the Url, minus unnecessary words.

  118. Dragging Files and Folders
  119. --------------------------
  120.  
  121. Read a DragText file or WebEx Url:
  122.  - drag the file or object into ANY supported window
  123.  - position it using the I-beam pointer
  124.  - drop it
  125. DragText treats its own files and Urls the same as dragged text.

  127. Read any file:
  128.  - drag the file into a multiline entryfield
  129.  - use the I-beam pointer to position it
  130.  - press the ALT key, then drop it
  131.  
  132. List a directory's contents:
  133.  - drag a folder icon into a multiline entryfield
  134.  - use the I-beam pointer to position it
  135.  - press the ALT key, then drop it

  137. Enter a filename:
  138.  - drag a file icon into any supported window
  139.  - use the I-beam pointer to position it

  145. NEW FEATURES IN v1.2
  146. ====================
  147.  
  148. DragText v1.2 is a minor update to v1.1 that adds several enhancements
  149. to the Basic features.  Because there are no new Extended features to
  150. try, current users of v1.1 will not receive a second free trial period.
  151.  
  152.  - Background Drag:  optionally, pressing mouse button 2 will not
  153.    bring a DragText-enabled window to the top if it is partially
  154.    covered.  This largely eliminates the problem of the source
  155.    covering the target of a drag.  See the Online Help for details.
  156.    *WARNING*  Other utilities that add functions to the mouse
  157.    buttons may interfere with this feature.
  158.  
  159.  - Selectable Pointer Sizes:  instead of the standard sized I-beam
  160.    pointer, you can choose to use a larger version that may be more
  161.    appropriate for high-resolution displays.
  162.  
  163.  - Automatic Selection of Dropped Text:  optionally, text dropped
  164.    into editable windows will be highlighted.  This permits repeated
  165.    copying of the same text, and makes it easier to move or delete
  166.    text dropped in error.

  168. There is a new "insert text" icon that is easily distinguished from
  169. the "create a file" icon, and the "insert filename" icon is now easier
  170. to see.  Also, two bugs affecting WebExplorer Urls have been fixed.

  175. REGISTRATION
  176. ============
  177.  
  178. DragText's Basic features (dragging text between windows and entering
  179. filenames) are free and require no registration.  Unregistered users
  180. see a copyright message for 3 seconds at startup.
  181.  
  182. DragText's Extended features (file, folder and Url features) require
  183. registration.  They are enabled for 6 weeks after installation;
  184. Thereafter, they will be disabled until you register.
  185.  
  186. DragText can be registered to individual users directly with
  187. the author ($15) or through BMT Micro ($18).  You will receive
  188. a registration number that you enter on the last page of the
  189. Options Notebook.
